Since 1981, we have supported Lutheran Education, locally and throughout Canada.

About Us.

History.

In 1981 a group of interested parents from Kitchener-Waterloo area Lutheran churches under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Harald Tomesch, started First Lutheran School in the basement of Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The school remained there for a number of years until the Trafalgar site was purchased and the school's name was changed to Christ Elementary School. An additional name change followed and the school became the Christ Lutheran School. As the students grew up, Christ Lutheran Collegiate Institute was added and ran out of the Lincoln Rd. location, while Christ Lutheran School also ran a day-care out of its Trafalgar location called Christ Lutheran Early Learning Centre. The school which once ministered to 300 plus students, prayerfully decided to close as student enrollment numbers declined and the school could no longer justify the physical assets and financial responsibilities. Both campuses were sold and after a period of reflection, the school has now been transformed into The K-W Foundation for Lutheran Education.

Organization.

The K-W Foundation for Lutheran Education (KWFLE) is an incorporated organization and a registered charity, which operates out of Historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The foundation is completely volunteer run and led by an elected board of directors, all who are members of Historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Future.

KWFLE completed its transformation into a foundation in 2019, with a mission to support Canadian-based charitable organizations carrying on Lutheran educational work. Our hope is to continue Lifting High The Cross by serving Canadian Lutheran agencies and equipping its people for service to Christ.
